
Moldova : Zdob si Zdub released from hospital after car accident
Roman Iagupov, Valeriu Mazilu, Mihai Gîncu, Victor Dandeş, Anatol Pugaci and Sergiu Vatavu, members of the moldovan band Zdob si Zdub have been injured in a serious car crash in the night between Friday and Saturday in Chişinău, Moldova, while they were heading to start their European tour in Kiev, Ukraine.
The band's minibus was hit by a Volkswagen Sharan whose driver was highly drunk (so was the woman that was travelling with him).
The soloist of the band, Roman Iagupov, suffered a severe knee trauma, got broken glass in his eyes and back injuries. The other members of the band as well as the minibus driver all suffered fractures and cerebral commotions.
They were all hospitalized at the Emergency Hospital in Chişinău but we are glad to let you know that they are out of danger now.
According to the Romanian news agency MEDIAFAX all 6 band members were released from hospital today. Their sound specialist will remain in hospital for 1 month.
The concerts that were supposed to take place on Saturday, June 7th, in Kiev, Ukraine and on Sunday, June 8th, in Torino, Italy at the Romanian Festival, have both been postponed.
The band did not cancel the concert which is supposed to take place before the Euro-2008 match Romania vs The Netherlands, on stade de Suisse, in Bern, Switzerland, on June 17th.
Zdob si Zdub represented Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 in Kiev with their fancy song "Bunica bate toba".
