This man is a living legend and he is also the main reason I love Ireland in ESC so much. "Mister Eurovision" never stopped treasuring the contest we all love and hate at the same time.

A lot depends on where you read the rumour....as I'm sure I heard he was writing a song for France ???

As to Johnny himself - he's never been happy with the contest since the orchestra was removed....calling it nothing more than a gloryfied karaoke contest :rofl:

not to mentioned the danish song of this year
i really doubt it, and even if he comes back i don't see him getting higher than 10th.. today "why me?" wouldn't pass the semis for sure

ps : Andorra, Estonia, many countries are considering leaving esc.. Why does the EBU insist on spending so much money for a big show and many little irrelevant shows (the opening night ceremony, jESC..) while they don't help funding the countries a bit short?

I read today that also Czech Republic and Hungary don't want to participate anymore.  :(

all three baltic countries have expressed strong doubts on participating in Oslo due to financial cuts for channels. Andorra as well. San Marino has confirmed it stays out. Austria and Monaco did too while there are little chances Italy and Luxembourg come back. The only possible newcomer is Lietchenstein.

Maybe I am alone, but in my opinion in the bad economical situation which we have in every country, it would be not necessary to spend all that amount of money to ESC. I would have nothing against it if there wasn't any ESC in 2010, but in stead Oslo could be the ESC host in 2011.   :-[

there have been other crisis before and it's never a good thing to put an end to culture for economic reasons :-\

however I agree money is ridiculously spent by EBU. I want a smaller more intimate feeling to eurovision. a cozy music festival like there are so many all around Europe would be welcome! and with much less money spent on interval acts and all the extra stuffs, we could help smaller countries host a NF and send an entry to the contest !

ps / Romania just confirmed their participation in esc 2010

there's culture and culture. technically speaking, culture is everything that isn't natural (so even "working" is a cultural aspect of mankind) so yes, eurovision is culture after all and by that I do mean, in the worse possible sense, "pleasing the mass" but yes, even if we hate the usual mainstream gogo shaky slapy esc tune, we gotta love the fact that it exists for its history, its possible great songs, its pleasant atmosphere.. so I am in favor of esc, but if we do cut some money fund that are not necessary even that might emphasize the need of more "simple" songs..

so balkans are all gonna be there apaprently as Serbia confirmed it's participation while Estonia found private fundings for esc.. let's hope lithuania and latvia will too since EBU is too cheap for that
