TOUR DU MONDE 5 - THE SONGS

As winner of Tour du Monde 3 it fell to me to decide the location of the 5th edition and I chose...

We only have 8 participants in this edition but they've all chosen great songs so it all about the quality not the quantity. Here's who's joined (in alphabetical order)

do you guys even end up enjoying the songs ? the contests ? isn't the point to try to discover new songs and new styles and enjoy through the weeks the entries ? the songs ? look for other songs that the singer could have sung.. that's why i hate esc singers in here (abba, tommy, mans in sweden!) that's just a bit too much !

anyway this contest is rather nice and there are some songs who try to avoid the typical greek pop songs so that's nice.. i'll wait a bit to vote now..

and I won't say i am a contender to win anything (just look at past winners vs. my songs) but I DO get to vote and with only 8 voters, my vote counts much.

Ian and Niko I do realize it sounds harsh but it was not my intentions : i like you both very much but it's just you always vote as soon as the contests open and i wondered if that was the right thing.

I can't speak for Niko but the reason I always vote quickly in ETC is that I'm already very familiar with all the songs. I don't need to listen to them any more to know I prefer Sweden 62 to Belgium 83 for example. Simply give me a list of ESC songs and I will rank them according to my taste in seconds

With regards to ESC singers in the contest there's going to be some countries where people only know the ESC artists (although I personally think using Abba for Sweden is a bit of a cop out

)

Well People complain about sending ABBA in for Tour du monde in Sweden and in here we see ESC singers and Groups . Funny though is that the person who compalins is the one who has sent an ESC SINGER/GROUP IN THIS EDITION

Very Hilarious when people that judge others should look at their own song and stop being jealous or judging other just because they sent a singer known world wide . If a song is liked and is good why not send it . I see nothing wrong with it

First of all : when I intend to attack someone I usually quote them and say their names ; I don't hide behind the "that person" you use which would make me think that this is pure provocation with no real depth to it

"That person" being me (I am the only one who complained about esc artists) and I have sent so far Sinead O'Connor, Cirque du Soleil, Nightwish, AC/DC (almost none of them are even pop or esc like) and as for this edition, i can't say yet, but Ian can tell if I did or did not send an esc artist.. Well Ian ?

As for seeing nothing wrong with it, it's ok to be a bit blind : some people enjoy the contests just for the voting and most of all the winning. I take pride in saying that I don't do it for that, but mostly for enjoying the variety of songs and discovering new songs. If there is let's say ONE esc-like entry or singer, then I can live with it. But with Sweden, I knew it was going to be all schlager and since I hate schlager, I was mad about it and do not see the point of having a contest with all esc singers (there's Remy's EAC for that) or esc songs (there's Niko's ETC for that).

Sweden has given us more than that (Europe's "Final countdown" 86 should definitely remind us that all)

Martial did not send an ESC artist to this edition. However I did

- but not because it was an ESC artist but because it's a song I really do love....it just happens to be by an ESC artist.

The purpose of this contest is to find different songs from different countries...and people can send whatever they want (as long as it's not an ESC or NF song). With Sweden there was always going to be a lot of schlager since schlager is popular amongst a lot ESC fans....although not with Martial and not really with me or Niko either (though there are exceptions for both of us). I have to say I think Morgan has a point about ESC singers - there's Remy's EAC for that so maybe after Swedish edition I may introduce a rule about no ESC singers

. It would certainly give this contest more variety.

Com'on guys! This is just a forum contest. It's supposed to be fun! I wish we have a horror contest so I can send in all esc songs/ singers you guys don't like.
