There's plenty weird about it....particularly in pronunciation.  Take the -ough ending of words which has 5 or more different pronunciations

though - pronounced tho
bough - pronounced bow
cough - pronounced coff
thorough - pronounced thoror
enough - pronounced enuff

I'm sure there's more as well

One of the most difficult names in English in my opinion is Slough. I really found it difficult to pronounce it right way. I spent there some time with my mother, when we were living in England.

Yes - it is an odd one and difficult to put into phonetics because when you do it becomes "slow" but it's not slow it's "sl-ow" in 2 parts

And I also noticed that there were not 2 persons who were pronouncing it the same way.

Definitions of vibe(s):

Quote from: wordreference.com
Vibe is the 'feeling' surrounding something, similar to an 'aura', but it's the 'feeling' that something (an activity/person usually) gives out. You usually describe what type of vibe it gives out "positive vibe" is a common way to describe something that makes you feel happy, upbeat, etc.

 :)

Quote from: dictionary.die.net
Source: WordNet (r) 1.7

vibes
n 1: a distinctive emotional atmosphere; sensed intuitively; "the
place gives me bad vibes" [syn: vibrations]
2: an percussion instrument similar to a xylophone but having
metal bars and rotating disks in the resonators that
produce a vibrato sound [syn: vibraphone, vibraharp]

vibes - WordNet (r) 2.1 (2005) :

  vibes
n 1: a percussion instrument similar to a xylophone but having
metal bars and rotating disks in the resonators that
produce a vibrato sound [syn: vibraphone, vibraharp,
           vibes]

vibes - Moby Thesaurus II by Grady Ward, 1.0 :

57 Moby Thesaurus words for "vibes":
battery, bells, bones, caring, castanets, celesta, chime, chimes,
chord, clappers, concern, crash cymbal, cymbals, echo, empathy,
feelings, fellow feeling, finger cymbals, gamelan, glockenspiel,

I'd go for the tam-tam version (big fuss in Romanian) :P

Ian, I have always had a problem with one special thing - so:

Does 12 AM mean midnight or midday?  :-[

Thank you Morgan and Ian - that helped me a lot. I have been pondering very many years what does 12 AM and 12 PM mean.

But now I have another question - which may sound very stupid and hilarious at the same time, but I need it for certain thing. So, what does a dove say in English?  :-[

I'm listening to "I kissed a girl" by Katy Perry and every single time I'm listening to this song one question comes to my mind :

Quote
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it

Shouldn't it be "doesn't" instead of "don't" - gramatically speaking (it sounds better using "don't" though)

btw ... trying to watch the official video on YouTube and much to my surprise all I've got was this error message "This video is not available in your country."  :eyepop:
I can watch the video on MTV but not on YouTube ?   :out:

Grammatically speaking yes it should be DOESN'T - but as you say DON'T fits the song better
