(CNN) -- Michael Jackson, the show-stopping singer whose best-selling albums -- including "Off the Wall," "Thriller" and "Bad" -- and electrifying stage presence made him one of the most popular artists of all time, died Thursday, CNN has confirmed.

He was 50.

He collapsed at his residence in the Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles, California, about noon Pacific time, suffering cardiac arrest, according to brother Randy Jackson. He died at UCLA Medical Center.

When the UK singles chart started in November 1952 Al Martino was the first person to have a Number One single with Here In My Heart

70 YEARS FROM THE BREAKING UP OF WINTER WAR

70 years ago, November 30th in 1939 at 08:00 CET broke up the winter war between Soviet Union and Finland, when Soviet bombers started to bomb Helsinki without any warning. The war ended March 13th at 10:00 CET.

It was a miracle that Finland was not conquered by Soviet troops and so Finland didn't have to share the horrible fate of Baltian countries.

I will send in this and the next 7 posts a documentary Film about the Winter War - you can watch at it when you have time. But I really hope that you will find time, because it explains a lot about the situation we had then.  :(

The Documentary is mostly in English - the Finnish parts have English subtitles.  :)

Today on December 6th is Finland's 92th Independence Day.

From 1211 till 1808  Finland was a county of Sweden and from 1808 till 1917 Finland was an autonomous grand duchy of Russia.

Finland was declared independent on December 6th 1917.

SHOCKING NEWS FROM FINLAND - 5 KILLED IN SHOOTING !

The shooting happened this morning in Espoo, which is the 2nd biggest city in Finland. A man who was known to police because of his earlier violent behaviour, killed first his female friend in a private home and after that he went inside a shopping mall and shot there 4 employed. Finally he left the shop and committed a suicide at his home. The killer, Ibrahim Shkupolli, was a Kosovar, who had lived a couple of years in Finland.

I'd like to know the answer to this question too. I was shocked to hear that there are more than 2,000,000 guns owned by Finnish people atm. I know that hunting is a very popular hobby all over Finland but still ...
