I just decided to open this thread, because it would be very interesting to know who is visiting your country at the moment. There is no matter if he/she is not an internationally well-known person. He/she can be a film star, singer, politician or any other statesman, artist, author or what so ever. Just please share with us who is visiting your country right now or where are your own celebrities travelling.

DIMA BILAN ON A FRENCH VISIT IN FINLAND

The winner of ESC 2008, Dima Bilan, was yesterday on a French visit in Finland. It was a part of EBU's promotion tour for the winner. Dima was singing about half an hour in department store Stockmann and after that he was already busy to Sweden. According to the news, there was a small crowd of about 200 teengirls listening him and vast majority of those were daughters of Russians immigrants. Dima Bilan was supposed to come to Finland already on wednesday morning and to give a short interview to the morning TV of YLE 1. He cancelled it though about 1 hour before the supposed interview "due to technical reasons" (= he was still in Russia then).
Also, his concert was supposed to be one hour long, but he sang only 3 songs and gave signatures after that for 15 minutes.

FINLAND'S MINISTER OF FINANCE VISITING KOSOVO

The Finnish minister of finance, Mr. Jyrki Katainen is visiting Kosovo right now. He is the first foreign statesman who is visiting Kosovo since its independency. He is going to have negotiations with president Fatmir Sejdiu, minister of finance Ahmet Shatal and vice prime minister Hajredin Kuci.

30 SECONDS TO MARS in Finland

Jared Leto's band "30 seconds to Mars" visited just Finland. It was having a concert in Helsinki yesterday. Before that they had been walking and having fun in Helsinki for about 3-4 days. Mars-guys left back to USA this morning. Finland's concert was the ending of band's European tournee.

MILOS FORMAN VISITING THE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL IN FINLAND

During this weekend we have 2 international celebrities in Finland. The first one of them is film director Milos Forman, who is in Finnish Lapland, joining the International "Nightless Night" film festival in Aavasaksa. The internationally best known films by mr. Milos Forman are "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975) and Amadeus (1984).

KYLIE MINOGUE GIVING HER FIRST EVER CONCERT IN FINLAND

On Friday 13th the Australian world famous singer Kylie Minogue was giving her first ever concert in Helsinki, Finland. When concerning only 1 singer, its expenses were higher than ever before in Finland. Also, the tickets cost honey, insence, myrrh and gold.

The concert was part of her massive concert tour to Northern Europe.

SEVERAL ARTISTS VISITING FINLAND THIS WEEKEND

This weekend Finland is coddled again with very many famous foreign artists and bands. Some of them are:

Bob Geldof, Santana and Chick Korea are some of the performers in Pori 43rd International Jazz Festival. Anglieque Kidjo is one of the main artists in Kaustinen 41st International Folk Music Festival and Iron Maiden is having a concert on Tampere Stadium, about 1 kilometer away from my home. That concert begins at 19:00 CET, but due to my balcony door is open right now, guess what I am hearing right now? Yes, I can hear them doing rehearsals.

VISITORS OF LAST WEEK

These summerdays are going so fast that I don't always remember to update here. Anyway -

A Swedish opera singer, Anne-Marie von Otter, was giving a concert in Finland last friday. von Otter is mezzosoprano and she is married with a Swedish actor and theater/ film director Benny Fredriksson. She has been singing in several opera roles in Covent Garden, Metropolitan and Teatro alla Scala.

Last week we had XIII International Flamenco Week here in Tampere and we who live here were coddled by several indoor and outdoor Flamenco happenings. As you can guess, the foreign guests were from Spain - and this year they were

TODAY IN TAMPERE

One of the most famous country legends, the singer/songwriter Kris Kristofferson is giving a concert in Tampere Concert Hall today on tuesday. He is singing some of his most famous songs and also playing mouth organ. Mr. Kristofferson's biggest hits are "Me and Bobby McGee", "Help Me Make It Through the Night" and "Loving Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)" and "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down", which you can see him singing together with another country legend, Johhny Cash, in the video below.

ROCK LEGENDS IN FINLAND ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY

The legendaric bluesrock group from UK, Jethro Tull, which was formed in Luton in 1967, was visiting Finland on monday and tuesday. It had concerts in Helsinki and in Tampere. This was the 8th time when Jethro Tull visited Finland

GUESTS FROM JAPAN

Jethro Tull was still in Finland when we got here another band - this time from Japan. AN CAFE - a Japanese Harayuku rock kei band, visited Finland for the second time and it had 2 concerts - in Helsinki on Tuesday and in Tampere on Wednesday. The group was formed in Japan in 2003 and its members are Miku (vocals), Takuya (guitar), Kanon (bass), Teruki (drums) and Yuuki (keyboard).
