Thank you for your answer Niko.  Very interesting!

I can't remember Simo Frangén from ESC 2007. I only remember Krisse Salminen from the green room.

Simo Frangen is this guy. He was reading "ESC news" in our semifinals in 2007.  ;)

Sorry for the quite a long delay with this answer - but it seems that I am specialized in delayed answers here in ESCvibes.

Doesn't matter, Niko.  Thank you for your answer!  ;)

Time for another question.  :P Was there much attention in the Finnish news for the 8-0 victory of the Finnish national football team against San Marino yesterday?

Yes there was, Remy.  :) It was told that even if the team was quite sure that they will win, they couldn't wait for such a huge victory. On the other hand, it was also remembered, that winning San Marino doesn't anymore help Finland to reach the European Cup.  :-[

I want to ask about anthem. You have got that in Finnish and Swedish. Do people have to know these both versions ? Like it is important to know anthem words by heart. Or it depends whats your nationality? Logically its seems to me that Swedish people should know the both words in Finnish and Swedish, but Finnish don't.

Yes, you are right. Most of the Finnish people know only the Finnish lyrics and the Swedish speakers know the Swedish lyrics. I am very many other bi-linguals know both of them.  ;)

Oh yes, by the way, Åland has also its own anthem.  :)

Thank you Gerly.

I still want to add one anthem, the Saami Anthem, which is the anthem for Laplanders in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia.  :) Here it goes:

and in a lighter note, Ville Larinto & Matti Hautamaeki did good in Kuopio's jump, is that very popular in Finland? How closely do the Finns follow winter sport?

I would say that winter sport is followed very keenly: people follow ice hockey (a sport which I have never liked), skiing, ski jumping, figure skating etc etc etc. Speed skating is not followed very much though.

All in all, I think people maybe follow more winter sport than summer sport.

What is the most popular destination for vacation? I know that most Dutch people are visiting France in the summer.

I just read the statistics about the favorite travelling destinations and it was something which I didn't expect to see. The top 10 lists are actually two:

Top 10 countries where Finnish people are travelling for their holidays:

1. Thailand
2. Egypt
3. United States of America
4. Spain
5. Greece
6. Bulgaria
7. Slovenia
8. Albania
9. Argentina
10. Turkey

And then, the top 10 holiday destinations:

1. Rhodes Island
2. Alanya
3. Crete
4. Teneriffe
5. Phuket
6. Madeira
7. Lanzarote
8. Fuengirola
9. Pattaya
10. Tallin

Actually, both lists surprise me very much, especially because I have never liked beach holidays. In my opinion beach holidays are just waist of time.  :-[ When I go somewhere, I want to see historical places, old churches, everyday life, museums, art, beautiful houses and gardens,  nature etc.... Nothing could be as boring as lying all days long in sunshine, grill yourself - and get melanome.

Thank you for your answer Niko. Some destinations surprise me too, especially Thailand & Egypt. I expected to see Spain, Italy and France in the top 3.

Thank you for asking TrayBake and welcome to escvibes.  :goodjob:

The best road in Turku - they are many! I personally like Aninkaistenkatu, Eerikinkatu, Vartiovuorenkatu - and the one which leads to Tampere.
Salmiakki is better.   ;D
Kiitos hyvää kuuluu, entä sinulle?  :)
Piimä is best!  :goodjob:
