I found a very interesting website where it was told how every country has given and recieved votes during the history of ESC - and here is how many points Finland has given to all countries from 1961 till 2008:

all i care for is the 12pts France got in 2002. We only had one and it came from the only country were televoters also can read the lyrics of songs! thank you Suomi

Interesting statistics.

The position of Estonia on both lists is noticeable.
In their short ESC-history they have given and received many points to and from Finland.

Yes, I was also quite surprised that Estonia is doing so well, but I guess the reason for that is, that Finnish and Estonian are closest "relavite nations".

It is also surprising to see UK as 2nd in the first list, even if Finland has never given 12 pts to the United Kingdom.

Yes, I read that closest to Finnish is the Estonian language.
So this must be the reason why Estonia and Finland likes each others entries.

I think that the United Kingdom is 2nd in the first list because there was no free-language-rule before 1999.
UK always received many points before 1999, like Malta and Ireland, because they were the only countries with English entries.

You can be right - still, if I remember it right, Finland used to give high points to Italy (which I think would lead the given votes list if it still participated in ESC), France and Israel. UK has been very seldom within the top 5 of Finnish votes. I think Finland has given only 2 times 10 pts to UK. (Sorry Ian

I honestly don't know why people assume that the reason that UK & Ireland had success was because they sang in English. There was a free language rule in 1973-1976 too so it's not new. Part of the reason why UK & Ireland did so well was that their entries were more internationally friendly musically and not just linguistically.

I didn't say that the only reason that the United Kingdom got many points is because of the English language. The UK and Ireland had many brilliant entries in the past, but there is definitely a connection between the English language and the fact that the United Kingdom, Ireland and Malta got many top 10-rankings.

I know 2006 was the first time since 1977 that Finland got a 12 points from anyone - and it was Ireland that gave 12 to Lapponia. Germany & Switzerland gave them 12 in 1975. No 10's in 72-73 but yes we gave you 10/10 in 1971

Actually, I did not mean the 10 pointer in 1971, but your top points to Finland in the "Stone Age" 1962.

Back then it was possible to give points for 3 songs - 1 pt - 2 pts - 3 pts - and UK jury decided to give 3 pts for Finland (Marion Rung - Tipi-tii).

it was good but maybe uk after being 2d three times wanted to give pts to songs they thought had no chances to beat the British one? But no matters how, "Tipi tii" did deserve its 7th spot in esc!
