Eurovision news and rumors 2015
« on: May 16, 2014, 08:30:54 PM »
Let's keep this thread for news and rumors we find about ESC 2015.  I found one news wich is worth mentioning.

Apparently Russia wants to start its own version of Eurovision and might withdraw from ESC. The new concept would introduce a  ”Voice of Eurasia” approach that would include countries from the former Soviet Union only.I am not sure whether or not Russia will withdraw or whether they are saying that to get attention,  but it will be interesting to follow it and see what will be of it.  If they withdraw then another country will have a chance to make it to the final. It also has to do with Conchita's Win  :irked: :talktothehand: They are thinking of Withdrawing because they are homophobic.

Here are comments from Russia's leaders about Eurovision.

Communist Party deputy Valery Rashkin:” The last Eurovision contest’s results exhausted our patience. We must leave this competition. We cannot tolerate this endless madness”

Advisers to Belarus President Aleksander Lukashenko. :“Conchita Wurst’s Eurovision victory symbolises the complete collapse of the European Union’s moral values. We don’t need Europe”.

Wurst’s victory has also spawned an online protest campaign in which Russian men post pictures of themselves shaving on various social networks....

But one day the old lovers long for more
Dreams and desires of another youth
And they leave their families, betray their friends
They don't want advice about how to be happy

If ex-Soviet countries want to leave, it is just fine in my opinion. I can't see that many of the ex-Soviet countries would agree to leave Eurovision: maybe only Russia and its satellite Belarus. In the new possible "Voice of Eurasia" Belarus and Russia could give 12 pts to each other until the end of the world. :)

Actually, this Russian polemic about Conchita Wurst winning is very funny. I can't recall any similar polemic from Russian side when the Ukrainian Vjerka Serdjutška (Andri Danylko) became 2nd in Helsinki in 2007, so I guess the main problem is not, that they are disgusted about the winner, but because the winner country was a wrong one.  :P

We have our first "no" of 2015...  It is coming from Andorra.

RTVA confirmed the non participation...  It comes as no surprise as Andorra has  not returned since 2009 and never qualified for finals..   We say goodbye to Andorra for 2015....  Hope to see them back in 2016.

No I don't want Russian to withdraw. They are a great country in ESC. But their politicians have to understand that the people like and accept Conchita.

I think also Slovakia won't comeback

There are rumors, that EBU will ban Georgia from the following 3 ESC  because of its insincere jury in the final of ESC 2014. All the jury members had ranked all the songs by the same way, which statistically is impossible.

The 2nd "no" to ESC 2015 is coming from Monaco, but I don't think it surprises anyone, does it.  :)

Monaco has never qualified since I started watching the contest, so I'm not surprised, no :).  They haven't participated since 2006 if I remember correctly.

Soñando con una playa donde brilla el sol, un arco iris ilumina el cielo, y el mar espejea iridescentemente
