Congratulations Norway !    :smitten: Nice to see for once one of my favorites songs winning the whole thing. :goodjob:

I will not remember Moscow 2009 for a good hosting of the show (lets admit it ... the presenters were good  in the Final, but the presenters of the semifinals were awful enough). I will remember Moscow 2009 for the great entries from Norway, Iceland, Estonia, Moldova, France, UK and Lithuania  (I love the song no matter what Europe thought of it).

As for Romania, lets be honest and face it ... we couldn't ask for more this year.    Maybe one day Romania will learn to promote our artists (and I don't mean just to make some great promo videos) and support them no matter what. Or maybe we should held a contest of runner-ups from time to time.   :-\

No objection to Norway winning.
No objection to Alexander winning
No objection to Fairytale winning

BUT MAJOR OBJECTION TO

169 points between first and second place - ridiculous .  There is no way that the margin should've been that big.

On the positive side.  The best vocal performance of the night finished 2nd.  Yohanna was absolutely magnificent again.   Jade was absolutely wonderful and thoroughly deserved every one of her 173 points.  Lithuania was cruelly underrated....as was Spain - how on earth did that finish 2nd last and Turkey's inferior song and vastly inferior performance finished 4th.  Turkey and Azerbaijan in the top 5 are both ridiculous.  Nice to see the classy entries from Estonia, Bosnia & France getting some recognition.  Still cannot believe we gave Turkey 12 points :irked:....takes the shine off what was otherwise a great night for the UK.

I really think the JURIES are responsible for the margin.
For instance the French televote result of semi final 2 are very interesting. We're the only country of ALL the SF2 countries to NOT give a top 3 result to Norway and only 3pts. Yet on the big night, thigns happened differently. We did guess right that juries and televote would BOTH like Norway. The two together made it impossible for Rybak to not get very high pts at the end from all countries, therefore explaining the huge margin. Iceland and Norway are rather fair up there, but I think that I'd rather have had a first Icelandic victory. Not only for Iceland itself, but for Yohanna, a stronger singer than Rybak and a stronger and calmer live as well, and also coz I hate the idea of a very very very predictable winner.

I can't believe the juries insanity of Turkey, Azerbaijan or not even killing Greece : Sakis didn't even sing as a little guy all the way on the right of the stage totally in the shadow was doing all the singing for Sakis. The french commentators were outraged that a country could send a "dancer" and have an anonymous singing on stage for him.

A very unfair last results as well as Ukraine, Romania, Albania or Croatia should have been the bottom spots but they have more friendly neighbors than Spain or Malta.

Apart from Patricia who was flawless, Yohanna, Jade and Chiara who also nailed their performances, Israel, Armenia or Moldova who were extremely nice on stage, my faves remained all along Bosnia and Estonia. Perfect vocals, very neat and strong performances in all simplicity, they both got my votes and both got 0 from France. Go figure. Ultimately I think Switzerland and Macedonia would have been stronger than many of the ones we had in the final, but still musically and live, 2009 was much stronger than previous years. And since the winner is anyway undoubtfully fair, we can prepare our bags for Oslo next year and hope for another strong season of esc.

I'm very happy with the results.

Congratulations Norway for the 3rd victory in the history!  :yahoo: And what a score!

And a second place to Iceland  :goodjob:

I'm also very happy that the United Kingdom and France have a good score after all those poor results in the past years.

Disappointing that Finland became last  :(  My father voted for Finland.

There was absolutely no mention of the change....but with Azerbaijan and Norway to vote they showed the list of voters and Norway was there between Switzerland and Bulgaria but showing as not voted ??? - a bit suspect if you ask me.

The Dutch commentator (Cornald Maas) was also very surprised that Norway didn't vote after Switzerland, but Bulgaria instead.
He said that there was no news about a error in the connection between Moscow and Oslo.

I think that the EBU decided to put Norway at the end, because it was clear during the voting that they would win.

In my opinion it's strange if the EBU speculates who the winner will be during a voting.

i think they knew he was such a big fave and prefered to have norway voting last
last year the last country to vote gave 0 to Russia and this year the winner votes last, so still no points! when was the last time the winer did get the last 12? Anyway in 1963 it was already Norway that pooped on us with their votes!

Latvia in 2002? They received 12 points from Lithuania.
I don't know if there was another time when the last voter gave 12 points to the winner after 2002.

Not sure yet.  There is rumours that the Big 4 will be in the semis next year and the top 5 from this year get through to next year.  As yet though I don't think it's been fully decided.

i sure hope france doesn't get stuck to semi final that would really hurt us! france would really rather leave than broadcast a final it's not in.. especially after Patricia failing to enter the top 5

Soraya, after the contest, has declared that TVE's attitude towards the contest may have caused her placement. Remember that TVE broke the rules by not broadcasting their semifinal live and using the jury instead the televoting for it.

She also recommends famous people not to enter until some things change, even if for her going to esc has been a positive experience.

About Alexander Rybak, Soraya said he was very found of himself and egocentric, and that she would have preferred Iceland or United Kingdom winning

Isn't it better to keep the rules the same?
So that Spain, France, UK and Germany will start in the final next year, together with Norway?

Or is it better to let the big 4 also start in the semi-final?

I know Germany would object to losing their final place.   Martial has said the French wouldn't be happy.  Spain - well do they actually care anymore.  The UK wouldn't be happy but I can't see them withdrawing simply because if we don't qualify for the final they can always stick the final on BBC3 as they do for the semis at the moment.

he's young and knows he's a cutie and he damn well knew he was a big fave.. it was an easy game for him, all to his glory i'm not one bit surprised!

France also doesn't show the semi final on the real France 3 but only in a channel you can only get with cable, France 4! with us out of the final, we might either leave for ever or stick to sending crappy entries and not give a poop!
