it's not funky and it does have some pretty tough lyrics that could be good but they decided to go all with a joke making those lyrics feel like they're not important.. but singing about soviet repression in lithuania is not something id jump around in shiny underwear about ???

But one day the old lovers long for more
Dreams and desires of another youth
And they leave their families, betray their friends
They don't want advice about how to be happy

What a mess!

This is what happens when good music goes unappreciated.  ::) Sasha is revenged now ...  somehow.

and the most surprising is, Sasha Son had a very bad song in the NF this year : he is still a great singer but with poor live performances (just like in Moscow) and this time a bad song too ! The best in the final were Eden with "Nirvana" (by a landslide) and also good was Agama's song but their performance was a mess.. the best song in the whole NF was Donatas Montvydas "Running fast", winner of both televote and jury in second semi, only to be disqualified before the final.. now that's great music not appreciated.. two years in a row now that Donatas should go to esc and doesn't.. I hope he too goes to some foreign countries to finally get to esc !

OK.  I've listened to it a few more times...and whilst the song is still rubbish IMO with a professional LT United type performance this is gonna do well.  Get the performance wrong and it will bomb completely.

which is essentially the case for any song being picked for esc though..

Not necessarily.  Two examples - Is It True from last year....and We Are The Winners from 2006.  All Yohanna had to do to sell the song was to sing it well whereas LT United had to sell the song with a performance.

Put into context of this years contest.  Niamh Kavanagh needs to SING her song well to do well.  InCulto need to PERFORM their song well to do well.

Lol I actually quite like this song, I think it's just a bit of fun, and it's a relief from all the ballads this year :goodjob: I mean, it's hardly a great song, but it's alright as a joke

i absolutely don't think so and really see Niamh 20th or lower. Chiara hsa a reat voice and is a marvellous performer, but that didn't do the trick ! we have to also think of so many things (running orders too, who can remember Patricia going 3rd!), the overall quality is weaker that's a bonus for Niamh, but she looked bad and the backings were bad and the performance in the late late show was static and boring
i think a performance wouldnt hurt ireland a bit this year (remember 2007 anyone?)

Difference being last year Chiara was singing a song that didn't suit her voice.  Niamh has a decent song in a poor year.

i really don't think that next to all the ballads including stronger ones (Sweden, Norway..) it can outshine anyone, and she really need to go last if she wants to not be forgotten !!

There are some distinct similarities between Niamh's and Didrik's songs - particularly in the chorus.  I don't see any threat from the ordinary Swedish song...Georgia perhaps on the ballad front...but this is a thread about a very uptempo entry from Lithuania - so we'd better get back on topic

Strange to see this sort of views on this song...

It does outshine quite a few songs a lot from the 2nd semi finals (actualy strange it didn't go to the finals seeing that there are worse in those that did).

The idea is to have a fun song. While watching the other songs it get's pretty monotonic and few actualy are any different from each other (in the last bit 3 songs one after the other were barely any different in note or melody) however here the idea is to stand out.

I've always seen it a problem of eurovision: the songs are all the same. There is little to no interest in watching one song after the other since hearing one before you can say you already heard most of them
