NORWAY 2011 || Stella Mwangi - Haba Haba
« on: November 30, 2010, 10:23:07 PM »
MGP 2011 is starting to look like the best NF of the year ! they made the best promo ever for this year's MGP and the line up is exquisite : all music styles are there and the NRK has promised it's all about the songs this year, and not anymore about having big names like A1 competing, with all the focus on them instead of music...

the line up is close to perfect to what NRK could have done, and this is already the most exciting NF (but we have to wait for the songs and the staging to know which of the big NF is the best this year, between MGP, MF and Eesti laul, the three amazing ones)

i totally agreed with televoters : Helene was definitely the best & I loved the live from Åste & Rikke... i don't like Sie Gubba's song but their live was nice, while "Daisy" was nice enough... I liked the thre songs out bt the lives were bad, Carina can't sing, Sichelle can't perform and Gatas Parlament was just noisy

semi 2 was very bad song wise but after all, the performances and vocals were stronger than in semi 1
however the televoters got it all wrong, Isabella should have won easily, to me it's with Helene the best so far, definitely... I think Marika was fun but crazy... i hate the two qualifyers, camp boring craps. Endre did a good live

now semi 3 is the one i hope most from, Noora Noor and Girl Happy mostly but BlackSheps, Luky Bullets or even Stella can surprise me

Well, what should I say about semifinal 1 to put it kindly and not to make Nikky feel sad.  :worry:

The good songs first!  ;)

First of all, Vardlokk is really amazing, what a talented singer Helene Bøksle is and the song is amazing!  I am sure that this will be one of my favorites if this goes to represent Norway in Düsseldorf. A lovely, lovely song!

My second favorite was "Alt du vil ha" by Sie Gubba. I like very much country music, so no wonder that I liked this.  :)

After these 2 songs there is a HUGE GAP and my 3rd is either  Daisy or Not That Easy. It is really not that easy to say which one of them is better in my ears.   :D Seeing that Not That Easy was qualified makes me think if I know anything about music.  :-\

The other 3 songs - I don't even want to comment them! They represent everything I dislike in ESC and music generally.

Now the 2nd semifinal thoughts:

Isabella and Babel Fish were the best songs in my opinion. But they were not as amazing as Vardlokk in the first semifinal.

About the other songs: Andre is my 3rd, but he should take more singing lessons before the Norwegian national final. Hanne's performance and song reminded me about Sweden 2010. I'll be yours is a song which all of us have heard several times in ESC ever since 1956 - last year Denmark had a similar song (but it was better than this). Marika and Miki were absolutely the worst ones, I didn't like them a bit!

All in all - semifinal 2 was better than semifinal 1, but the best song so far has been in semifinal 1.  :)

i'm a big country music fan myself niko . mainly cause i was raised on it in rural alberta, canada.  :) so i tend to enjoy anything like Sie Gubba.

i really like hanne's song but the obvious bergendahl similiarities do irk me a bit. if she lost the guitar at the start it would help i think.

i'm still not sure how i feel about helene's song. i like the theme and lyrics and it certainly appeals to the feminine nature spirit side of me but i think the drums bother me. i'm not sure

i have to be honest...babel fish is just not my style...but i was told by a norwegian girl that norwegians love that style and like to send male singers..

feminin nature? :innocent:

oh sorry. that's kind of hard for me to explain. "feminine "nature spirit" like the concept of a Völva in Norse paganism. at least that is what the song reminds me of .

the norwegians voted like crap! i dont like the two songs that made it at all!!!

. Susperia, “Nothing remains” is just not a song strong enough in comparison to “Dragontower” there’s like a supposedly good hard rock person in esctoday who goes crazy for each one of them it’s silly, they’re not all as good… Sure the singer was excellent vocally, the performance good, but nothing remains of the song

2. Noora Noor was perfect, her old fashion song “Gone with the wind” was nothing dated and the performance pure class, modern, not tacky ; vocally it was impressive all throughout and the song is just better

3. Girl Happy made a disappointing live, not enough electro alternative, too poppy and happy, bad shirt… not the best vocals of the night either… too bad it was an excellent song

4. Grethe Svensen was classy, she knew how to perform well but it came out all schlagerish to me, and with such a lame song it really couldnt do the trick to me

5. The Blacksheeps were Blackshit if i may say so, terrible performance with no charisma, vocally perfect but visually a mess, very teenage pop rock that really could make me violent. they’re so popular im not even sure helene or anyone can beat them, and bye bye norway from esc finale

6. Stella Mwangi wasn’t that well dressed, the song is so cheap and schlagerish and they made it look so much like that, it really didnt work for me, but since Jessy Matador was popular in Norway i’m not surprised it made it

7. The Lucky Bullets were the best surprise of the night, vocally fine, very strong performance, fun show overall, i’m not a fan of the song but in comparison they’re quite close to Girl Happy in my ranking now

apparently NRK has prevented songs to be out just like SVT does, because the NF is not over yet!

If I try to find something positive in this song, I want to say that "Dum tek tek" was still more horrible than this one. :mosking:

Incredibly overrated. A very weak attempt all around.
