BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA 2012 | Maya Sar - Korake ti znam
« on: September 04, 2011, 03:34:24 PM »
Esctoday reports an article from Dnevni Avaz where lots of details are being revealed on the Bosnian entry for 2012. What I personally consider the best eurovision country of all time, and what can objectively be considered the best eurovision country since 2006 (on a musical leve not on results level), will apparently be as strong if not even stronger in Baku!

Quote from: Esctoday
One of Bosnia Herzegovina's biggest newspapers Dnevni Avaz is reporting that Bosnian superstar Hari Mata Hari is very close to signing a deal in order to represent Bosnia & Herzegovina at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Dnevni Avaz reports that an official announcement is expected by BHRT on the 15th of September. Eurovision fans will remember Hari Mata Hari as he represented Bosnia & Herzegovina at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest in Athens, and achieved the country's best placing in the contest, thus placing 3rd.

Vladimir Graic Graja, the composer of the 2007 Serbian Eurovision winning entry Molitva, is reported to be composing the 2012 Bosnian Eurovision entry, according to Bosnian newspaper Dnevni Avaz.  Fahrudin Pecikoza is reported to be the lyricist of the entry, he was also responsible for the lyrics of the 2006 Bosnian Eurovision entry Lejla. The Bosnian newspaper goes on to report that it is rumoured that Serbian lyricist Marina Tucakovic, might co-operate with Fahrudin Pecikoza to write the song. Marina Tucakovic penned the 2010 Serbian entry Ove je Balkan.

The newspaper goes on to mention that eventhough it's impossible to get an official confirmation on this matter, they are more than certain that Hari Mata Hari, Vladimir Graic and Fahrudin Pecikoza might sign a contract with BHRT next week. Dejan Kukric, the Bosnian head of delegation is reported to be working on the project.

Dejan is currently busy attending the EBU meeting in Baku. Dnevni Avaz reports that Mr Kukric met with Vladimir Graic in Belgrade, just before leaving for Baku and that he got the chance to listen to the demo version of the potential song. It seems that Hari Mata Hari heard the song  back, and both Dejan Kukric and Hari are delighted with it.

Bosnian lyricist Fahrudin Pecikoza is no new name to Eurovision fans as he penned the 1993 Bosnian Eurovision entry Sva bol svijeta, the first ever Bosnian entry. Bosnia & Herzevovina debuted at the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest in Millstreet with Fazla.

According to Dnevni Avaz, BHRT is planning to make an official announcement regarding their 2012 Eurovision representative on the 15th of September. It will definitely be the earliest announcement in the history of the Bosnian selection. The Bosnian newspaper also claims that the song is not a classic ballad, and is more adjusted and complimented to Hari's style and vocal skills. Stay tuned to esctoday for the latest news and developments on this story. Please notice that neither the broascaster BHRT nor the artist Hari Mata Hari have confirmed this news.

if it turns out to be the case (i doubt it's just a rumor, because it was in a bosnian newspaper, and it has too much details to be ust rumor thrown out there), it would mke Bosnia the hottest esc country for 2012: everyone in that team has done amazing things in eurovision. Hari Mata Hari's "Lejla" is #1 in my 2000's list ; the lyricist also wrote Bonian song in 1993 (my all time #3) and the composer wrote th urovision winner for Serbia in 2007. Added the usual strong and efficient performances at Eurovision for Bosnia, and we might have the big thing to watch out for. Huge news if it turns out to be true.

Broadcaster, BHRT has just announced Maya Sar, a young and talented singer and songwriter will participate at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, representing Bosnia & Herzegovina.

BHRT made the following announcement about Maya:

"The Public Broadcaster of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT,) an active member of the EBU decided, based on the Rules of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, to hire an artist that achieved significant results and success with its songwirter skills, wonderful voice and distinctive musical style, in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well in the regional music scene".

Maya will sing her own song in the competition, which will be aired in the beginning of 2012 on BHT 1 and BH Radio 1.
Maya Sar's biography

Maya Sar is a songwriter, composer and singer which works with the biggest names from the Balkan region. For many years she has been a band member for Dino Merlin with whom she performed at the 56th Eurovision Song Contest in Germany.

She is the founder of the ragional humanitarian project in the fight against cervical cancer Moj je život moja pjesma (My Life Is My Song) and the composer and songwriter of the eponymous song. For this, she received the Gold plaque of the great human heart by the International League of Humanists (Dr. Elisabeth Rehn)

With the first self-composed single Nespretno (Awkwardly) Maya Sar achieved remarkable success. She composes for other artists in the family studio Long Play with her husband and producer Mahir Sarihodžić and she is also finishing her first solo album.

In Düsseldorf earlier this year, Bosnia & Herzegovina finished 6th with 125 points with Dino Merlin and his song Love in Rewind.

What do you think of this announcement?

Apparently, and to my knowledge, Maya recorded only one known song as solo singer, titled "Nespretno" (i won't put it here, so it won't confuse with the actual Bosnian entry to be determined, but check youtube - i really recommend this one!). however if the Bosnian entry will be similar to this one, then once again another great song from one of the best ESC countries!!

The song is very nice and beautiful, but to tell you the truth, I am a little bit disappointed, because I was waiting for something more Balkan.  :-[

I was expecting something great, and i didn't get disappointed :) this song has true class and quality, and i believe Maya brings into it great talent and professionality, which distinguish the song from many other ones in similar style, which sounds nothing but plain.
in general, even though Maya had only one known song before, and was not so known in the region, as Kaliopi, Nina and Zeljko are, the decision sending her to ESC was genius one! i think juries gonna love it, and BiH might get very deserved high placing!
what can i say more, i'm already in love with this woman

Thoroughly disappointing entry.  She has a lovely voice....the song starts nicely enough and starts to build nicely....and then doesn't go anywhere at all
