Australia 2015 | Guy Sebastian - Tonight Again
« on: February 11, 2015, 04:43:39 AM »
I am not joking, Australia has been allowed to put a song forward, this act will go straight into the Final, it will be voted on and treated like any other entry!

I just had to check my calendar to make sure that it wasn't 1st April .  I can understand some of the reasons why they're granting Australia an entry, but I'm not really in favour of it.  Eurovision is already stretched somewhat in terms of geography by including Israel, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia, although they're members of the European Broadcasting Corportion, whereas Australia is not.  I think that this is all a bit gimmicky personally.

If they were to win, I think that a lot of entrants would, quite rightly, feel pretty aggrieved, especially the country which were to come second.

Performing better than the UK doesn't take much, I agree.  I'd be surprised if they were to do that well, however.  It's not as though they're going to have a lot of neighbours to help them out at the voting stage.

Top ten I'll give you, but top five, I'm not convinced  :P.  It does depend on which countries get through from the semi-finals though.  A strong block vote year will make it less likely for Australia to finish high up the scoreboard, but a weaker block vote would give them a chance.

 Sydney, Australia -

The Australian broadcaster, SBS, announced today that multi-talented singer and ARIA Award winner Guy Sebastian will represent Australia at the 60th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna! The performance will be a celebration of Australian music and culture and marks the first time in Eurovision history that Australia has been invited to compete at the contest as a wild card entry to celebrate 60 years of Eurovision Song Contest.

I don't like this either.  It has a great beat though, so I think that a lot of people will vote for it.

Honestly, i've expected a bad song, but i was wrong and i find this one very cool! Australia will do very nice in their first (and only?) Eurovision participation!

I think I still have a Guy Sebastian song on my ipod, from when someone had a music blog years ago, and recommended a track.

I like this song too, having heard it just once.
