Records Of The Year
« on: August 19, 2007, 05:17:10 PM »
2007 - Finland
i noticed 4 records
1. A ballad not in English winning since televoting(Serbia/Molitva)
2. Most countries "42"
3. Most countries which were straight at the final ending Top10 (five).
At 2004 it was 4
    2005 - 3
    2006 - 2
    2007 - 5

4. A entry passing the semifinal and ending lowest ever at the final (Latvia - 16th).At a year with the hardest semifinal  :o
(also Slovenia ending 15th).
Until now FyroMacedonia had the record being 14th.

 - The Netherlands qualified from the Semi in 2004 and finished 20th .  Other things to note.

It was the first time since 1991 that the title of the song was not understandable to the English speaking audience (although in that time 3 of the winners hadn't been sung entirely in English (95,98 & 04)).

It was the 7th consecutive first time winner (Estonia, Latvia, Turkey, Ukraine, Greece, Finland, Serbia)

Greece were the 2nd country to score 100+ points in 4 consecutive years after France 1976-1979.

2nd consecutive year that Albania saved someone from 0 points.

1st time since their return in 1991 that Malta had not been in the final.

1st time since their debut in 1993 that Croatia had not been in the final.

I'm sure there are more which will come to me in due course :)

2008 - RECORDS

Greece became the first country to score 100+ points in FIVE consecutive contests.

Russia scored 200+ points for the THIRD consecutive contest.

Bosnia & Herzegovina & Ukraine both scored 100+ points for the 3rd consecutive time.

Dima Bilan became the 5th artist, but the first male, to have finished both 1st and 2nd at ESC following Lys Assia, Gigliola Cinquetti, Elisabeth Andreassen & Linda Martin.

8th consecutive First time winner (Estonia, Latvia, Turkey, Ukraine, Greece, Finland, Serbia, Russia).

Russia are the first country since Ireland (1992-1994) to finish in the top 3 three times in consecutive years.
