...unlike in my rankings where it is DEAD last by a considerable margin...which considering how awful the Austrian and Monagesque songs are is quite an achievement

If people start giving their votes, we could get some of those rankings on the way
my personal list for the great year of 59 where two great singers took part ; hard to decide which one i like best but i went with the swiss one..

My personal ranking of ESC 1959

1 - Switzerland - Irgendwoher - Christa Williams
2 - Netherlands  - Een Beetje - Teddy Scholten
3 - France - Oui, Oui, Oui, Oui - Jean Philippe
4 - United Kingdom - Sing Little Birdie - Pearl Carr & Teddy Johnson
5 - Sweden - Augustin - Brita Borg
6 - Denmark - Uh, jeg ville ønske jeg var dig
7 - Belgium - Hou toch van mij - Bob Benny
8 - Italy - Piove (Ciao, Ciao Bambina) - Domenico Modugno
9 - Monaco - Mon ami pierrot - Jacques Pils
10 -  Austria - Der K und K Kalypso aus Wien - Ferry Graf
11 - Germany - Heute Abend wollen wir tanzen geh'n - Alice & Ellen Kessler

as usual the german song does nothing to me.. by the way the italian song is very famous in France since gay icon Dalida made a reprise of it..

3. Italy
4. Switzerland
5. Sweden
6. Belgium

your opinion always mattered a lot to me : at least you do like Italy and Switzerland is pretty nice up there. I notice that Sweden is always 5th in ourlists, good (and Denmark was imo overrated a bit)
