a dumb and irrelevant list of top 20.. it sounds like it's made to have a thrill (Claude, Eleanor..) but ultimately there will be an obvious winner (Chiara).. I'm disappointed also that the best song out of all 56 was "Rock & ride" and they went with the other entry by Klinsmann!

anyway my top 5
1 - Klinsmann
2 - Trilogy
3 - Baklava
4 - Chiara
5 - Q

and I'm disappointed that "Another side of me" didn't make it, nor Jo Zette or "Innocent heart" also cute

Gosh I am so surprised - Malta chose Chiara....how very predictable.   The good thing is that it will be a great vocal performance.  The bad thing is that the song just is nowhere near as good as her other 2 entries.

I don't know really.  She's such a good performer she can sell any song well.  Will it be enough though?

How can you waste a voice like Chiara's in the biggest disney-like bubbly crap of the year? No wonder it was written by a Belgian duo, a country that can't care less for esc. This needs big improvement or else Malta can actually stick to the semi except for the juries 10th spot but like it did for Charlotte then it's bottom at Final for Chiara!

I agree that the song is a waste of a wonderful vocalist like Chiara.

Malta could stay in the semi-finale, except for the juries.. this is going to be scary!

Well they've got some strong countries in their semi.  Looking at the countries there is a chance that Malta can qualify without the need of the juries...considering Andorra (nice song but not a qualifier surely), Belarus (a complete mess - both him & the song), Czech Republic (dismal record so far and I'm not impressed by Gipsy.cz as a group), Belgium (dismal record since semis came in) & Montenegro (cheap song depsite me loving it I don't expect it to qualify) are all in their semi.  You'd expect Turkey & Armenia to qualify with ease (although I hate both of their songs)...Sweden should qualify...so should Finland...and Georgia too....and Bosnia which leaves you with 4 places to share between - Iceland, Malta, Israel, Bulgaria, Portugal, Switzerland, Macedonia & Romania - so anything is possible.

I think you can already have Iceland and Switzerland in the qualifyers. That leaves Portugal's possible Flor De Lys song and some Macedonian nice song like last year (which did get 10th) and Israel has AWESOME singers if the songs are good.. Malta's in danger.

I personally think all of you exaggerate too much...

This is not so bad, nor were Chiara's previous attempts so good (specially not her 2005 attempt)
The qualifiers aren't so assured yet (we need to factor in the jury right now)
And Malta has pretty good chances of qualifying.

tonight Chiara performed again ; whereas the Belarussian guy arranged his song (but not his hair sadly), Chiara went on with the same awfully written belgian-like song..

it's not like i liked "Angel" but Chiara wrote it herself and she knows her voice, she knew what she could do and the song was written every inch to nail down the performance.

"What If We" is a cute lil nothingness overly sweet like most maltese songs (2002, 2003, 2004 most of all) but definitely not for Chiara. It's not strong it doesn't even request a strong voice. I'm actually thinking that Malta has its best chances to qualify to the esc final since it last did.. But I'm sure that we should get ready for a surprise that Chiara even in the final won't be in top 10!

as for the juries.. they're not in semifinal per se. Only the 10th song is chosen by jury and not by televote, but NOT by the official musical juries for the final, only by OGAE juries who voted for Poland and Sweden last year!

Isis Gee gave a very credible performance or her far too americanized ballad, and hey, she ended 10th, so fine by me.

Sweden qualifying shows you exactly what's wrong with today's juries

I agree with you about the Belarussian guy.  The rearrangement of the song was an improvement - but he seriously needs an image consultant NOW!!!!!

it's not like i liked "Angel" but Chiara wrote it herself and she knows her voice, she knew what she could do and the song was written every inch to nail down the performance.

Angel is a nice song - but anyone else singing it other than Chiara and it wouldn't have worked.  As you say because she wrote it it was tailored exactly to what she can do with her voice.  The performance was absolutely perfect.

You're right again - it doesn't need a strong voice to sing it.  Even someone with a sweet little voice like Ira Losco could sing What If We.  I also agree that Malta has it's best chance of qualifying since 2006 (but Vertigo & Vodka never really stood a chance - Vertigo could've done but the performance was a mess).

Isis Gee gave a very credible performance or her far too americanized ballad, and hey, she ended 10th, so fine by me.

Isis' problem was that it was actually difficult to decipher what language she was singing in  - and it was worse live than in the studio version (which was also fairly indecipherable to me - which as a native English speaker is kinda worrying).

Sweden qualifying shows you exactly what's wrong with today's juries

Couldn't agree more.

What i said about Lithuania also... how many good voices will the juries go for....the song has to be catchy also.Ofcourse "angel" was better and its so stupid not selecting Chiara internal from the start and putting 3-4 people to write for her..a better song
Amazinggggggggg voice

This song is very strange - it gets a little bit better by every listening. There is something very hypnotizing in it.

I will not do 2nd time the same mistake to surestime Chiara. Her song in 2005 also didn't tell me nothing before to see the live performance. Chiara will make this song to sound like the best. She is a serious contendor for the first place. We already know from televoting that people vote for her and I really dunno that the jury will not vote for her. I think that will be between Malta and Norway.
