actually.. it's better than Scooch and the rapping lil kids.. but I think Andy might have been truer

Jade can not sing, Andy could sing his own true way, the song had a great vibe.. Jade is a NO
and all the big names, all the fuss, just for this boring blah??

seriously UK, you just went down the road for my hopes to see the big 4 in top 4..

Other than Jessica Garlick (2002) I agree completely because this decade we've sent crap after crap after crap (I quite liked 2004 but that was more for James than the song :D)

I can't believe anyone got above Sandrine either...but consider the rest of the UK entries in the 00s Jessica was a class apart

ah true Jessica was actually "something" musical for the UK
i don't know how it happened but in 1999 something did happen. After Katrina and her victory, Imaani who should have won... then THAT in 99.. i mean what was it? Uk wanted a girls band so bad but spice girls wouldn't do it that they chose THAT? and since then the UK was gone from the living live of Eurovision.. strange..
"My Time" does feel like it's a song, which is good, but vocally Jade is close to being a disgrace whereas Andy could sing. All in all, I'm disappointed that behind all the fuss of the UK selection it wasn't Mark with a good song but Jade with a boring song.

I don't know what happened.  I agree that it all changed in 1999 and I can't pinpoint why.  Since then it's been disaster after disaster.  I mean 99 is dull, 00 is awful, 01 is even worse, 02 discussed, 03 horrible performance of a horrible song, 04 dull song lovely guy, 05 hideous, 06 even more hideous, 07 so clichéd that it isn't even funny, 08 he's a good vocalist - but has the charisma of a slug .  Jade is just another in that long line of mediocrity.

The most disappointing aspect of it for me is that there were 2 great composers working together - and they came up with this really disappointing effort.

I like Mark's version the most but (sorry!) the song is not that spetacular in regards to the buzz and "excitement" it has created!

Without having seen Mark's version of the song, I can say that I'm not NEARLY as dissapointed as I thought I would be by reading the comments.

Sure, it's boring and not really my cup of tea, but I think it might as well work (and that's the most important thing for the country itself, isn't it?)

The last minute in both versions I've heard is quite special actually.

Sigh, we were SO robbed of an Emperors of Soul version of this :D. Wonder how ALW would had adapted My time to them :D. Not that I would've liked them to go (heck, I wanted them out even before Charlotte), but it would have been nice to listen to their version.

The problem I see with this entry? The draw. Whatever result the UK will get, it will depend heavily on it's draw (in other words, try to avoid singing in 2nd place this time UK).

it's too typical to please me actually, that's the main issue (but i clearly think it's second best of the 8 we have so far)

you're very right about the draw.. if this goes last it could even be a top 5.. after all that's the only reason "Hold on be strong" made it (switch it with Romania and Romania gets 5th and Norway 20th)

That's true, it's too ALW... which I guess was kind of the point of having him as the composer, but he kind of overdid the ''heard-it-before''-ness of the song.

I still think it's powerful... but well, I'll see how I like it after a few more listenings (only listened to it once, twice if you also consider The Twins version as a hearing)

I like this song quite much, but when listening and watching the youtube video, I can't help it that one thing comes constantly into my mind: Will UK 2009 have the fate of Poland 2008 ?  :(
