Eurovision Song Contest 1967, Vienna, Austria

After being runners up 5 times in the previous 8 contests the United Kingdom finally struck lucky and walked away with the prize. Singing barefoot, and singing a song she has constantly claimed she detests, Sandie Shaw finished miles ahead of the opposition. Luxembourg's 4th place song went on to be a huge international hit in an instrumental version by Paul Mauriat. Serge Gainsbourg tried again to win the contest writing the entry for Monaco. It was the first time that the top 2 songs were sung in English.
